it was funny but sooo true…especially the part about covering our heads only while recitation..
and i finally found the term for my brand of hijab, “Convertible hijab”..tauba astaghfar
But seriously speaking, girls wearing hijab (on there own) are much cooler than that ones not… Maybe because they have a brain to come to a certain conclusion. And to take up a socially awkward stance in this relentless world mean that must have been some thought process!
I hope there are a lot of ppl who think like you in this regard cuz most of the people I have come across only know of two broad categories of hijabis:
– the oppressed who aint even allowed to step out of the house and
– the ultimately pious religious scholar who you can ask questions like, “oh can i pray with nail polish?”
Hey, BECAUSE I lay in the grey area of the piety… more like very very dark gray… like charcoal… I have to believe that Islam also allows gradients or levels for it believers. But I also believe that everyone is accountable for their own sins and thus have no right to criticize any other person. Preaching other people is another matter and we have forgotten how to do that, we now call criticism preaching, which only discourages people away from the topic rather than bringing them closer.

true..things are getting quite weird now. People do not understand that there is actually a path towards righteousness that we need to follow and anyone can be at any stage of that path. As for criticism preaching, its just so sad that I know of people who can be so criticizing towards others that they scare away people from doing even the smallest good deeds that they might be doing.

lol i saw this chick at tariq road once, she was wearing a full abaya where the hijab was attached to the abaya itself, almost skin fitted kinda like a diving suit, super hot chick, her image is still crystal clear in my head, she looked that damn hot! 😀

the first step is usually not the most difficult…its more difficult to stay on this path of being a hijabi
Most of the time these video’s don’t take into account or leave room for the cultural variations of hijaab; hijaab in P’stan varies from that in Saudi and in Malaysia for e.g. anything thats not a black khimaar and a huge jilbaab doesnt mean hijaab for some people.

the problem is that most people need to understand that Islam talks about properly covering the body and modesty…not of a specific type of hijab. I know a lot of girls who wear abayas which are pretty much skin tight and would go around criticizing girls wearing loose shalwar kameez, covering themselves properly with a dupatta.
Uhhhh…. I think the problem is that we even though practice Islam but we have nt really accepted it…. We are not humble and brilliant, we are still arrogant and ignorant. We think our way is the right one and everyone else should follow it…. even you and me!
There are some/certain Shariah guidelines that need to be fulfilled concerning Hijab. And if you’re doing that, you’re all good.
Having said that, I used to love wearing different colours because I knew they looked good on me. But they still ‘fulfilled’ the criteria. Then I realised it was time to kill my nafs and start wearing my Niqab. I miss just being a hijabi sometimes… but only sometimes. I now love the Niqab.
Before I believed an outergarment was necessary – I used to love matching my skirts and dresses [All loose!] with Hijab… those were the days. 😛 Sigh…
On a side note though, I don’t think there is anything wrong if you still manage to look good with Hijab. Hijab isn’t meant to make you look ugly, just protect.
AND SAFI, there isn’t anything wrong with wearing whatever you want underneath your Abaya, islamically too, [YES EVEN A TIGHT JEANS AND SHIRT!] as long and nobody can see it. 😛
I mean, sure just because your wearing an Abaya and Hijab and are practicing, doesn’t mean you can’t still wear whatever you want.

Having Hijab or Beared does not declare one pious. I have seen women and men who appear Islamic but they are more moronic than those who are not Islamic at all

Hey! You can’t blame me, some people have this concept that just because you’re covering and are even an inch towards religion you can’t wear western clothing underneath.
I practically grew up in Western/Arab clothing because thats how it was here, and then we had this bad experience whilst in Pakistan when some aunt thought it was a shocker when she saw a peek of jeans underneath the abaya.
